Great information there I can’t agree more with the flight school choice. I originally started out with a flight school that was subpar and instructors were just there gain hours and move on. They were also very disorganized with scheduling and plane maintenance. In the six courses that I took from the original flight school resulting in us taxing off the runway twice , once due to a bad mag and the second due to a faulty oil pressure gauge. On the third go round, we went to fly a plane that was never prepped from the day before and only had 10 gallons of fuel in each wing. After 45 minutes waiting for a fuel truck I finally decided this was not the place for me and walked off the field. Currently enrolled now in a smaller facility that I’ll be trying out tomorrow.

Why instead of saying go TO the station through 120 they don't say go TO the station through 30? Why when it's FROM it's the same heading but when it's TO is the opposite?

Excellent advice, Alex. Before you go for training, get the material in advance and try to find a mentor! The employer is not interested in "training" you. They will expect you to know for example the electrical diagram... what happens when the # 1 alternator fails? If both the #1 and #2 alternators fail how does the APU alternator take over, what converts DC power to AC power. The training facilities should do a much better job at being specific as to what you need to know on the first day of class, but they really don't care and most of their instructors are burned out. Also try to talk to other pilots who are in front of you in training so they can brief you on what to expect. If you don't do these things, you will fail because of the way the system is set up. Study in groups if possible, remember "if you study alone, you will fail alone!"

Im in my early 20s and decided to go part141. Yes definitely more expensive, but i enjoy the structure and took the risk to take a loan and not work because i know ill earn the money back fast. And i get a university experience that i missed out on at the location i chose. Plus a 500hr time reduction and a partnership to airlines seems more beneficial in my pov.

I'm a russian student and I currently work on a big project about USA rules and regulations in civil aviation in terms of acquiring an airworthiness certificate, nobody has ever explained to me what is SB. It is a shame that Russia isn't under any EASA or FAA certification, I even decided to quit my job at Aeroflot, because my experience won't count anywhere else.

I have heard from my classmates from aviation institute of maintenance, that Dauntless is a good program. I have prepware on my phone for $10. I'm still in school and struggling to keep up with my classes on top of wife and 3 kids, night job and being in class 6 hours/day Mon-Thursday. Unfortunately for me, I will have to wait until the end of program to study and pass my tests because I have not been able to study for my general exam on top of what I have to do for my current classes. I tried that already and it did not work out, so I have to be smart and not fry my brain and have a mental breakdown.
